Some key figures highlight end-of-year global magnesium news:
Raw magnesium output rose by 2.7% year-over-year (January-November), and magnesium alloys production by 1.6%, according to the Federal Service of State Statistics.
The Service reports that in November raw magnesium output increased by 6% YoY, but dropped by 3.2% MoM. Magnesium alloys production decreased by 19.1% MoM, but saw a healthy increase of 10.1% YoY.
Russia (400 thousand tons annual output) trails only China (nearly 5,000 thousand tons annually) in magnesium production, according to 2014 United States Geological Survey figures.
